Points to Ponder

Despite the imagery Jesus uses in today’s gospel this parable isn’t about farming or gardening. You know that and so do I. It’s about us, you and me. It’s about our lives, marriages, parenting, and friendships. It’s about our work and our faith. It’s about our pain and needs. It’s about those who are struggling and holding on by a thread. It’s about injustice and the violence we do to ourselves, others, and our environment. It’s about living with meaning and purpose. It’s about healing, wholeness, and well-being for others as well as ourselves. It’s about hope and our future. It’s about the coming of God’s kingdom, the one we pray for every Sunday. Jesus is tossing out a story the way the sower tosses out seeds. The story lands beside our lives as a mirror in which to see ourselves, as a window into our hearts. Seeds are about life. They hold possibility and potential. They get things started. They are a beginning. They carry our hopes. They are the sower’s commitment to the future. There are all sorts of seeds – seeds of love, friendship, compassion, forgiveness; seeds of vulnerability and intimacy; seeds of hope and change; seeds of success and accomplishment; seeds of truth, healing, and justice; seeds of anger, resentment, discord, and division; seeds of judgment, indifference, fear, hatred. Every feeling, emotion, attitude, and experience we have comes with a packet of seeds and we each have to decide if that’s really what we want to scatter on the earth, in our families and friendships.

Fenagh Women’s Group – Community Bonfire Night

On behalf of Fenagh Women’s Group – thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a great success. We would like to acknowledge the many people who helped make this evening possible. A sincere thank you to Michael in Scollans Butchers, Michael in SuperValu, and Louise in Corrib who sponsored all the wonder food . To all our local musicians and dancers , what fabulous entertainment all evening . To Paul Gill and his team at Fenagh GAA, We simply could not have done it without your support and the use of your wonderful facilities. To Paul Keegan , Fenagh Development always there to help ,your support and encouragement was much appreciated. Our evening was a fundraiser for North West Hospice the amount raised was €2,733.80.  Thank you once again for all your support, generosity, community spirit, and friendship. We look forward to doing it all again next year!

 

Easy morning exercise
